Introduction
IRC is short for Internet Relay Chat. There are many different "clients" that you can use to connect to IRC, such as Trillian, gaim, Bersirc, mIRC, etc. However, for the
purpose of this guide we will be covering the free IRC client, Bersirc for Windows.
Note
I'm going to as an insentive, people that use IRC usually are the first ones to find out about updates.. as well as I think I'm going to do some random draws for people that
use IRC, weekly.
Downloading IRC
To download Bersirc, visit http://www.bersirc.com and select "Downloads" and download the latest Besrirc 2.2.x Windows
Installer, as this is not a guide on how to install programs you should just download it and install it like you would any other client.
Getting Started
Once you have finished downloading Bersirc, a profile manager will come up asking for you to enter your Username, Realname, and Nickname. Your nickname and username can be
the same, but most only contain alphanumerical characters, as well as some other characters but no spaces. Experiment with that information! You will then save identity and
start the program.
You will be greated with a Status Window, in the "Status" window type "/server irc.striked.org". You will then connect to the network.
Once you are connected to the network, to join a channel type "/join <channel name>" for example "/join #rf" to join the offical Ragnarok Frontier IRC channel and you
can begin talking.
Register your nickname
To register your nickname so you can list available channels, type "/nickserv register <password> <email>" (Without quotes), for example if you want your
password to be "iloverf1234" and your email address is "rflover@xenophase.net" you would type, "/nickserv register iloverf1234 rflover@xenophase.net"

Bots on #rf
#rf has a couple bots (two to be exact) called "RF" and "Xenophase", there are some commands on the bots that are accessible to all users:
"RF":
!top10 Top 10 Talkers in Channel
!top20 Top 20 Talkers
!ttop10 Today's Top 10 Talkers
!ttop20 Today's Top 20 Talkers
!stat Display your own chat statistics
!stat <nickname> Display other users statistics
"Xenophase":
.online Shows how many users are online on RF.
.uptime Show's the uptime of a user
.define <word> Shows definition of a word
.google <search term> Display's google results for a search term
.. There's more, but I can't remember them.

Hmm..interesting. I downloaded, typed in what you said "/serverirc.striked.org" in the Status box but it says "*Not connected to server" Any
help?

I think its /server irc.striked.org
Note the space between server and irc.

umm everytime i log onto the server and try to register is says
" [DEBUG] unhandled message: 451 [ :firefly.bc.ca.striked.org 451 nickserv :register first. ] "
and when i try to join # rf is does
" [DEBUG] unhandled message: 451 [ :firefly.bc.ca.striked.org 451 JOIN :register first. ] "
does this happen to enyone else
or is there a part of the directions i missed?
