One of Rogues and Hunters now, time for a Monk (Acids looked great, wanted to make it similar and easy like that)

Original Monk FAQ
Here

Stat Calculators
http://rode.doddlercon.com/db/calc/index.php (Its a good one)
http://ro.doddlercon.com/calc/calcx.html (Its sort of old, though its a good one as well)

Skill Planner
http://www.gn0me.org/skillsim/

Training Areas
Prontera/Morocc Fields - Any map left, right, north or south of Prontera is fine. South of Morocc is a great place to train as well with pickys and everything around there.

Payon Caves F1
An older area, be careful of the idiot PKer's up there but other then that the Zombies and Poporings are definitely good exp.

Glast Heim Churchyard
There are a few set backs here like the Mimic every so often as well as the Hunterfly. You should try and avoid the Evil Druid for a little while until you get to about 40-50. Great area to finish off that Job 50.

Louyang Field
Soils live here and so do many PKer's. Aside from that starting out as a monk, I would suggest combo, mainly cause at a really low level your dex won't be high enough to cast and run off without being hit.

Juno Field
Sleepers are here, they have great defence so make use of your Occult Impaction. Weapon of choice here would be Triple Peco Egg chain or Triple Kaho chain. Required strength here to OHKO a Sleeper would be around 110-120 ideally.

Ice Caves F3
Ice Caves certainly are good for defense monsters, however the amount of damage they deal out is heavy, best when with a priest. Loots as well aren't to great to my knowledge.

Abyss Lake F3
Great exp here leading with around 60k base exp. Not so great considering the honey spent ASing the return from the loots. One of the greater places to level until 95.

Bio Lab F3
Obviously, this area is very straight forward. You as the monk should be the basis of life here. Generally you can AS here all you want with some exceptions, though once again return from the loot is low considering the rate at which they drop. Rooting here with a party of killers certainly is slower, though the rate at which you kill is gonna be better then you having to charge AS after every kill.

Now begins life as a Champion. Same steps as above apply, however you can get your hands on a Grand Cross, which grants the user Level 3 Turn Undead (note this weapon is made for Acolyte classes only), Leveling in Guild Dungeon is a possibility.

Glast Heim
This map has many area if you like to explore, however I am talking about the top middle of this map where the 4 portals take you to gl_in01. The Dark Frames here are great money and exp for both base leveling and job leveling. This area is best used with the Grand Cross mace since it is a Holy Property weapon. Anywhere from 90-100 str is more then enough here. Dex should be one of the things you would pump over 100 so that you won't get hit at all here.

Thanatos Tower F7
Thanatos Tower certainly is like Bio Labs in regards to base/job exp ratio. Should you come here, try and find a party, it will help in the long run. I won't say its bad here, though again money is the driving force of most people, therefore, Dark Frames would still be a great choice, though its really up the person.

After your done, at level 90 you can enter Bio Labs once again and repeat your cycle of life once more.

Equipment:

Headgear:
My personal preferences are Solar God Helm and Apple O' Archer but more so anything which is going to help hit that bonus for your stats.

Solar God Helm: +3 Str, +2 Int
Great helm despite the weight, which gives a total of 5 stats. Compared to using Burning Blood Bandana and Angel/Devil Wing Ears or the common Deviruchi Sunglasses, I would suggest the Solar God, mainly cause it adds +2 Int which is great, after all without SP you wouldn't be able to heal right?

Apple O' Archer: +3 Dex
This headgear provides the user with dex. Its a good headgear which I use all the time to increase my cast speed. There isn't really a dex bonus for casting speed that I know of, for now its just however much dex you have in general.

Poopoo Hat/Feathered Beret: 10% Damage Reduction from Demi-Human Monsters
Well this is pretty straight forward as well. This hat is a great use during PK, the reduction is very handy.

Spiky Band: 6 Def
Well the Spiky Band is a renowned headgear for the defense is gives. In planning on surviving against monster attacks, always take into consideration your equipment defense and not your vit defense. Spiky Band being one of the many headgears which can be used by all classes makes it one of the best.

Angel/Devil Wing Ears: +1 Str
Everyone loves these ears, but one should think about the set backs. The price first of all is quite expensive if you were planning to buy one. These ears go on your middle section meaning it won't remove your upper gear if you were you use an Apple O' Archer or something that fits up there.

Willow Sunglasses: +80 SP
These are a great pair of Sunglasses or Glasses, depends on what makes you look better. Good for ASing mainly cause of the SP, remember all the SP counts!

Carat Card: +2 Int, +150 SP
Downfall of this card, you need to have it +9/+10 for the +150 SP to take effect. Once made, its one of the cards an ASer should have at all times. Just make sure to pray for a +9/+10 headgear when upgrading.

Crown of Mistress: +2 Int, +100 SP
Certainly, it gives 50 less SP then +9 Carat would, however its much cheaper and you won't need to upgrade a lot. Pretty common among people so much easier to find.

Armor:
Armor of choice should be the Saint's Robe, granting the user 6 base defense and 5 magic defense.

Pupa Card: +700 HP
This card is great at low levels since your HP won't be very high, you can't utilize Pecopeco card to its full potential.

Pecopeco Card: +10% HP
This card is best used when your HP exceeds 7000. Any lower and you will receive less then what you would gain from Pupa.

Roda Frog Card: +400 HP, +50 SP
This card is great for ASing since you gain that extra 50 SP. Though low HP compared to the others.

Shield:
Usually a Buckler, not sure if you would want to use a Guard.

Thara Frog Card: +30% Reduction from Demi-Human Monsters.
One of the great cards RO has to offer, works well in PK and in Bio Lab 3. Other versions of this card are available, though it would affect damage received from Demons or Angels and so on.

Tirfing Card: +25% Reduction from Medium Sized Monsters, +1 Def, +30% Resistance from Stone Curse and Sleep.
This card provides defense from any and all things Medium sized, though you would lose 5% reduction from the race of the monster. Though this card eliminates the need for more then 2 Shields.

Footgear:
Footgears most commonly used for Monk/Champion classes are Shoes, however the use of High Quality Sandals are great as well with the magic defense they add.

Sohee Card: Maximum SP +15%, SP Recovery +3%
This card is great, probably one of the most ideal cards for ASer's because 15% of your SP once you have high enough Int is good.

Firelock Card: +10% HP/SP, +2 Str
Now then, this card looks great, however one of the major setbacks is that you need to have +9 or higher footgear in order for the HP/SP bonus to take effect. With that being said, this cards is really good for high str bonuses and good HP/SP at the same time.

Garment:
Common use here would be a Muffler, though Heavenly Maiden Robe is a good choice as well though its required level of use is 80.

Raydric Card: +20% Tolerance from Neutral Attacks.
Overused card, not saying its bad, its truly a great card. Neutral tolerance is where it excels, however once the monster hits you with an elemental blow your done. Asura Strike and Rapid Smiting are some but not all of the moves that always hit for Neutral property damage. So keep in mind who you fight and how it will affect you when you use Raydric.

Whisper Card: +20 Flee, Increase damage from Ghost property by 50%.
An uncommon card, not many people hunt it. Great for training as combo, useless in PK. In PK, with the extra 20 Flee, thats not giving you much, seeing as Hunters/Snipers already achieve over 200 hit without a problem.

Accessories:
Clips are a good choice, anything that gives 1 slot and a stat depending. I'm only going to list ones I think are good at a high level.

Nimble Ancient Glove: +4 Dex
Now the +4 Dex is great. Downside, you have to be 90+ to wear this regardless. Aside from that, this glove + card combination provides the user with more cast speed and hit.

Vesper Core 04: +3 Dex, +10 Hit, + 3 MDef
Cores are great, the added hit and magic defense make it really hard to pass these up. Downside, you need to be advanced to wear these. The extra +10 Hit is great for battles with higher flee opponents, but if your relying on your TSS to kill them, you should already have enough hit without the cores.

Ancient Ring of Mustle: +4 Str
These rings are great for ASing since you get high str without giving much up. Same as the glove, you need to be level 90+.

Vesper Core 02: +3 Str, +10 Atk, +3 MDef
Not much difference in the cores. Same deal. The +10 attack is good for your skills, so there isn't much bad about this accessory.

Vesper Core 01: +2 Int, Max SP +5%, +3 MDef
Now then with these cores, truly great for the leecher you will become. The amount of SP gained is good and the int included helps out. Things is, there isn't much to with these when TSSing or Occulting.

Phen Card: Cast cannot be interrupted, increase cast time by 25%
Great card for people with slower cast. Depending on your situation, this card can make or break you. Use it wisely, 25% is a lot.

Weapons:
Weapons here include Chains mainly, though whatever floats your boat can be used in replacement. Hydra and Strouf seem to be everyones main focus, so I'll talk about those.

Hydra Card: +20% to Demi-Human Monsters
For this card, great PKing weapons come from this as well as Bio Lab weapons, up to a certain point though. Not too expensive.

Strouf Card: +20% to Demon Monsters
Now this card provides a great use as lots of monsters you encounter will be Demons, like your SinX and LK in Bio Lab 3. This card seems a bit pricey to me for what its used for.

Lol, yeah perhaps I made mine too long... Oh well!

1 question, what's the profit margin for monks when they first job change?

I ask because my monk that just job changed is eating honey and pots at sleepers right now x.x. I'm in an occult build.

Well occulting is a great way to start off at Sleepers if you have the initial gears for it. Though the damage they deal and the rate at which you need to heal kinda kills it. The Great Natures which are dropped certain are a good source of income whether you are downgrading or selling to other players. Still, profit is all about the player, the quicker you are able to kill the Sleeper the more money you save per run. With that being said, if it takes you over 2 hits to kill a Sleeper, you should think about resetting to a combo build and stick with soils until 75+.

yea, i would also suggest leveling in geffen guild dungeon if you are level 75+ monk/champ with Mental Strength. Get a priest/high priest with Magneus Exorcism with you and the exp you get will be godly. Very Happy

I did that until 99 monk
It was a pain
They released bio after I hit 99 which made me go like "wtf why wasn't it released earlier" so yea...

Even though bio is for 95+ only non trans but dragon is the way to go if you are power AS =)

*sidenote* Mental strength stinkz!

lolol hi jeff st.alk.er. you mean agi?

And I use this other website for skills. It accounts for which job level you changed job at (in Options), the Monk/Champion skill points used for Acolyte skills, and it's prettier =p. You can also do cool things with it in Options (Save skill builds for any class and "My Character" lists all the ones you ever saved, assuming you don't delete cookies).

Oh hit-and-run TSS? I thought he meant combo (agi for flee to dodge dark frames) with a mace lol.

You should never pump agi over 100 even if you're combo anyways because you end up with not enough points for other more useful stats such as str and dex.

If you're gonna AS, a phen is essential. A mistress crown is also vital for the AS build, unless you use a +9 carat headgear.

another site thats good for planning out your skills and is a great stat calc is http://www.ragnasim.net/rosim/main-iro.html plus it lets you see what your char looks like too. one thing about sleepers that i noticed nobody does. when i was at sleepers i had a combo build but with my extra points i got occolt lvl 5 so i didnt have to worry about getting hit. although my heal was only lvl 3 or 4so healing didnt help much anyways, but its wayyyy easier imo.
