Novices lack versatility and attack skills, cannot wear a myriad of equipments, and have low hp/sp factors. There are, however, Novice specific gears available. At job level 10, Novices have the potential to job-change to one of six basic classes (1-1). If a Novice chooses to train until base level 45, he/she gains the ability to become a Super Novice.∞ Permanent NoviceThe Permanent Novice (also known as perma-novice, or Super Novice before the implementation of the true Super Novice∞) is a Novice with a much higher base:job level ratio. Many consider novices above level 30 to be a Permanent Novice. Perma-novice builds usually contain a high amount of strength, agility, and dexterity. Gears consists of cards that boost max HP. Permanent Novices were once numerous, but have lost popularity due to the implementation of the Super Novice.∞ Starting StatsWhen first creating a novice, one can select which stats to favour. It is highly suggested that one maximizes str, agi, and dex [screenie∞] for training purposes until reaching job level 10 because resetting a novice does cost any zeny. This allows for the fastest leveling without any additional costs.Leveling SpotsBy talking to all of the introductory NPCs, one can reach job level 7 before entering the novice training grounds. Train the novice in the novice training ground until reaching job level 10 before leaving because the novice training ground has easy-to-kill monsters on a small map with a high respawn rate.
