Assuming you drive manual... if not.. well okay..

If you don't have a car.. please don't vote..

For me, second gear. =)

Tough, first or second, but I guess second lasts longer (: and first sucks if you dont have any torque, I choose second!

Edit: lol neutral?

i ponder the need for manual. are you a racer? otherwise isnt it just extra work? or does it save gas or something

Simple reason why you don't understand why people drive manual.
You can't spell manual without man.

Not to mention, they are more fuel efficient, are cheaper, and enjoyable.
I don't even notice shifting gears.
I can drive and shift gear with one hand and have my other hand hanging out the window.
Helps multitask better.
And you always know what the car is doing.

Now if I were to drift, that's a problem, my parking brake is on the left side, gear shift on the right side.

Please don't tell me you think driving manual has anything to do with racing...

Try clutch kicking and then control the throttle soo much easier. E-brake requires too much speed and coordination while steering quickly.

1st fun but over used so don't like pushing 1st gear

2nd torque fun

3rd shifting into 4th fun

well, i don't drift.. but if i were to... that part would be a problem...
it was a major problem for me when i was a noob and i had to go up a steep hill.. i'd be like.. OH MY GOD MY HANDS ARENT ON THE WHEEEEL..
especially that hill on boundary going up towards metro..

anyways.. i love downshifting into 4th.. but 2nd is just so beautiful...

i hate first too.. i move like 5 feet and then i change it...

your reasoning baffles me. does that mean you are emo cuz its in your name? that would explain why you so easily take offence at nothing.

they are more fuel efficient, are cheaper, and enjoyable.

this is a real answer. you could just cut the crap next time.

Please don't tell me you think driving manual has anything to do with racing...

it doesnt? i thought it was common knowledge most race cars are manual for a good reason

fine...
next time.. i'll just tell you to google it..

seriously..

just because most racing cars are manual, doesnt mean its related to racing.. old cars were mostly manual too..

stop spamming up my threads...

Most race cars these days are some form of automatic actually. F1 and Kart are all sequential shift automatics. Same goes for Stock car racing and most GT classes.

As for fuel efficiency, automatics are starting to surpass manuals these days, a good example would be Lexus and Mercedes-Benz and their 8 speed automatics.

I grew up with a manual, and I continue to drive one because its a personal preference. Its not any faster than an automatic nor does it save more gas argueably. I just prefer it. If you wanted me to give a single reason why I'd pick one over an auto it'd probably be cause it's a good theft deterrent. Most people these days don't know how to drive a manual, and how many times do car theives break into a car thinking they're almost home free and then realize the car is a manual.....

Yeah, that probably is the future, I don't see people wanting to shift 8 gears by hand, 3, 4, 5 and 6 would be damn confusing..

yeah i drive auto... but there's always that trip-tronic thing or whatever it's called... it's like playing manual mode in the initial D arcade games. I use that sometimes when i drive my dad's car for fun but I can't say I'm a racer or anything.

why manual is better?

taking that it's the same model of car, same kind of car, everything same, except one's manual and the other's automatic

saves gas
faster start-up
more fun, so you don't fall a sleep
car itself is cheaper to buy

also, why race-cars are shifters? because they have faster start-up, uses less weight, not quite sure if fuel consumption is the same, have more control of the car, and I heard it's safer, not sure about that either.

I prefer the 6th gear, out-running police cars =D

My dad insisted I learn to drive on a manual so I'd never have to say "Oh, I can't drive that; it's a stick." I hated it at the time -- all my friends were having such easy times with their automatics -- but I am so grateful he did.

I love being in fifth gear on the highway.
